Thinking about the last post – and the whole "don’t have a life" thing.  Most of the time "having a life" means you’ve got drama.  I just got rid of drama and don’t really want any more, thank-you-very-much.

We’re hoping that Binky is recovering from her recent surgery.  Wes has been pacing the floor with worry.

My Mom’s speeding her way to my house (so she can go to the knitting meeting tomorrow) and what better way to kill time than post about my latest additions to my yarn "collection"?

Braving the snow, Tom drove me to The Wooly Lamb on Wednesday.  I went to pick up 2 skeins of yarn that they had set aside for me.

I’m guessing you all know what happened next….

Enough of this Cascade 220 Heather (color is an army green…or brown…depending on how you look at it) to make the Central Park Hoodie.

Claudia Handpainted in Jungle and Carribean Blue.  For a hat for Tom in some sort of pattern.

Debbie Bliss Cashmerino dk for a Red Light Special hat…for Tom.

Also a skein each of red and black to make him the We Call Them Pirates hat…again, for Tom.

Hey!  He drove!

I spent so much that they gave me this TOTALLY COOL vinyl  bag.  I think I was more excited about getting the bag, than the yarn! LOL!  (NOT!)

And, of course, I got those 2 skeins of Cascade 220 – I’m thinking I’ll use it for Twist.

With all of that new yarn, I cast on some stash STR ("Lucy" colorway) for some Tom socks.

But we’re gonna call the colorway "Wes", ‘k?

And I had made some progress on the Endpaper Mitts.  HOWEVER, that rotten, stinking, no good, EVIL THAT IS KNOWN AS GAUGE got in the way.

On the needle size called for in the pattern, I got a lovely gauge of 40 sts=1".  Which fits my wrist perfectly.  But there’s no way in HELL it’s going to fit my hand.  So I’m going up to a size 4 to do the thumb increases.

It’s just as well.  I made a boo-boo in the pattern – can ya see it?  Sure you can!  So I ripped out about 10 rounds and picked it up from there.

I’m looking forward to my Mom’s visit (haven’t seen her since July!) and going to the knitting meeting.

Maybe I should hold off on more yarn purchases for a while…right Wesley?

  1. I really want to make that pirate hat for the hubby – he really liked the look of it.
You should read the couple pirate books by Gideon Defoe “pirates in an adventure with communists” and other such great titles. Funny, funny stuff.

Your stash enhancements are lovely, I think I will live through you for awhile. 🙂

  2. Very nice yarn – so much beautiful yarn I’m not sure which one I like the best! The Claudia Handpaint is really beautiful…sigh..I really thought about driving to the WL to get the nylon tote too this morning – but I think that’s just a bit too competitive….

  3. I don’t want to tell you how many of those totes I may have…..but the yarn is yummy – and really, you couldn’t not take it home with you. Here’s to getting rid of all the unnecessary drama that brings us down in life! Now, that’s living!

  4. It appears Wes didn’t know whether to give two high fives or pass out from all those yarn goodies. I bet he wishes it was all his to play with! I caught up on your other posts…137 movies. For me it’s the tip of the iceberg! I love your socks and the color is beautiful. I lurve STR yarn. I was crazy and joined their sock club again! happy weekend!

  5. Isn’t that Caribbean Blue just the best?!? I’m using it now for the Girlfriend socks (Math Guy’s girlfriend).

Thanks for some vicarious stash enhancement. I’m on a no-yarn-of-any-kind diet. Except for gift yarn or yarn purchased with gift certificates.

  6. Love that Cascade color – to the point that I just went out bought some too. 🙂

    Bink sends kisses.

  7. Nice acquisitions!

I just bought a buttload of Bartlett yarn from KPixie to make Rogue but now I’m wondering if I should do CPH instead…decisions, decisions…

  8. Oh, me too. I am dong the Squirrel and Oak Norwegian mittens. Did a gauge swatch, wrist size is fine but the hand is never going to fit. Now I’ll just finish these to say I can.

  9. Seriously, Wes is too cute. By the way, I love the colors you got in the DB cashmerino… yummy, yummy yarn that is!
